Nashville Home Burglaries Are On The Rise

by Flex Alarms

The crime rate in Nashville has been on the rise. Home burglaries are increasing, and thieves are becoming bolder. There has been an increase in break-ins at homes in the middle of the day, like the case the break-in that happened recently. A home was broken in during the middle of the day, and many heirlooms were stolen.

There is also a home that has been broken into 3 times in just the past few months. The burglars stole guns from the home, which have since been used in the other break-ins of the same house in North Nashville. The burglars have been using the same living room window each time to enter the home and steal whatever they want. Luckily, no one was home during any of the three burglaries. A surveillance video caught images of the burglars, which the police have released the images to the public to try and find out who these burglars are.

This rise in the burglary rate has the left the police to try new strategies. The Nashville Police are adding more manpower, creating better maps of where the crimes are happening, and engaging potential witnesses. These new strategies are going to be put in place in the neighborhoods which have the most break-ins to hopefully stop or slow down the number of break-ins in that area. There is going to be police in plain clothes around in these areas. The Nashville police also suggest that you look into home alarm systems, as these systems can inform the police about a break-in during times you are not at home.

If you want to protect your home, and you live in one of the areas that have a high burglary area, you should think about installing a monitored home alarm system. The police can only help you if they know about the break-in. Home alarm systems are the best deterrent for burglaries, and to protect your home. There are many different types of Home alarm systems on the market from the basic wall-mounted keypad, to those that can be accessed via your smartphone or tablet. Home alarm systems are easy to use and can be installed in any home.  With a home alarm system, the authorities will be in your home within a few minutes of a break-in or burglary. You will be also be contacted when there is any suspicious activity going on in or around your home, no matter if you are home or not, day or night.

As this system protect yours home from being broken into and your items being stolen, they protect you and your loved ones from harm and the worry about the rising crime rate in Nashville. Home alarm systems also add value to your home when you are planning to move. One alarm system can protect your home from being robbed, even if you have been robbed three times like the home in North Nashville.

On May 21, 2015, three high school students in Nashville were arrested by the police for a home burglary. They were reported by an alert lady who noticed unusual activity on the street that she was driving by. She immediately called 911, which led the police to the scene of the intended burglary. While the teenagers tried to get away from the back of the house that they were intending to break into, they were caught by the police.

The students were two 17-year-olds and one 16-year-old, who are now being held in juvenile detention. Their identities have not been revealed due to their age.

The crime was prevented only because of the astute observation and presence of mind of the lady, who noticed the teenagers get out of a Jeep, put on their hooded sweatshirts and gloves, and walk purposefully towards the back of the house.

While it is not known if the house had already had a home security system installed, in which case any break-in would have automatically alerted the authorities, it is a well-known fact that alarm systems are a big deterrent to burglars who have been known to strike even more frequently in recent times. Security systems in Nashville are being installed in more and more numbers by smart and discerning homeowners.

Nashville Alarm Systems Help Deter Criminals

Police in Nashville have increased the frequency of their patrols after a particularly violent home burglary incident that resulted in a man getting shot. The man, Derek Joyce, was shot three times when he interrupted the burglary at his aunt’s house.

The intruders entered Debra Joyce’s home on June 3, 2015, and held Debra, and two construction workers who were working in the home, at gunpoint. They were held at gunpoint for more than 20 minutes while the accomplice searched and ransacked the home. When Derek entered the home, unaware of what was going on inside, he was shot at when he tried to fight off the intruders. He is in a critical condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

The two construction workers fled from the site of the crime during the shooting. The suspects also left the home and are being sought by the police. While there were two people involved in this crime, no one has been taken into custody yet. Police are still on the lookout for the suspects.

The incident has put the entire neighborhood on alert. This is another in a series of burglaries that have happened in Nashville, Tennessee, in broad daylight in neighborhoods that are considered safe.

On March 9, 2015, two men were arrested in Nashville for attempted aggravated robbery. They broke into the home on Douglas Avenue on March 8, 2015, at 5:30 a.m., and forcibly opened the door that the victim had opened in response to a sound on the outside. The three men who were inside the house fought back in their self-defense. While two of the men fled the scene after the attack, one was injured with three puncture wounds to the torso. The victim was also hit on the head with a revolver.

The intruders were arrested the next day and were identified as 18-year-old Jonathan Williams and 20-year-old Jamario Walker. The victim had to undergo hospitalization for his wounds. The suspects bonds are set at $100,000. They confessed to the crime upon arrest. While their intention was to rob the house and they had demanded money from the victim and the other two men in the house, they were not successful in their attempt.

This is another in a spate of robberies and house invasions that have rocked the city of Nashville this year. With the majority of the robberies and invasions being attempted in broad daylight and that too in neighborhoods considered safe and secure, there is increasing concern among citizens for the safety of their family and homes. This is especially true in homes where there are senior citizens or young children. With the increase in crimes, people are looking for ways to keep their homes and loved ones safe from criminal elements. While the police are doing their bit and increasing patrolling in efforts to deter criminal activities, individuals are looking at ways in which they can enhance the security of their homes on their own.

Security systems in Nashville can be very effective in scaring off potential intruders and even if the intruder has broken into a home before. Nashville alarm systems can instantly and promptly alert the authorities, saving valuable time in catching the intruders before they can escape from the scene.

A home security system is a must-have in any home where there is an increasing rate of crime. If you are living alone or with family, if you have elderly parents or relatives, or young children home alone during the day, then security systems in Nashville can give you the peace of mind that they are safe and protected when you have to leave the house on work or for travel.

Prevent Nashville Crime with Home Security Systems

A doctor in Nashville returned from her duty hours to find her home ransacked out of recognition. Dr. Pamela Watson had left her home on April 30, 2015, to go to the hospital where she works and returned by noon, by which time the damage was done.

While the mess that was left behind by the burglars was itself mind boggling, what was taken was more heartbreaking for Dr. Watson. Precious jewelry belonging to her grandmother, aunt, and great-grandmother was found to be stolen (along with the last Christmas card written by her mother to her!). The loss of this heirloom jewelry has been painful for Dr. Watson, for whom family means a lot. The theft of the card is itself a sentimental loss as well as a mystery for her. Police are on the case to find the burglars.

When burglaries like this can happen in broad daylight, in busy neighborhoods, you are forced to think about the safety of your own home and belongings and the people in it. Often times, what is stolen may be more precious because of the memories attached to them and not just because of the monetary value of the items per se. Whether what is stolen is something that is precious because of its sentimental value or because of its monetary value or both, a burglary or a home invasion is a violation of one’s personal space. It is difficult to feel safe and secure at home again after such an incident.

It is in situations like this that a home security system can spell the difference between regret and delight. How happy you would be if a burglar would not even think of entering your house or even if he did, if the authorities were instantly alerted by the home security system so that there is no loss to anything in your home? With FlexAlarms, you don’t have to be worried about a break-in or burglary anymore. Just install one of our security systems in your home and know that you can never be looted in your own home.

A home security system will automatically alert the authorities and you in case of any break-in to your home, enabling the police to reach in no time at all. In a world of increasing crime, installing a Nashville alarm system could be the smartest thing you could do.

Based on data collected in the last 14 years, Nashville crime statistics report an overall declining trend in crime, with violent crime decreasing as well as property crime decreasing. Having this in mind, the crime rate in Nashville for this year is expected to be lower than 3 years ago, when it was the highest recorded. The city violent crime rate for Nashville in that year was higher than the national violent crime rate,  214.31% higher, to be more precise, and the city property crime rate in Nashville was 47.28% higher than the national property crime rate. As far as the local statistic is concerned, in 2012 the city violent crime rate in Nashville was 88.95% higher than the violent crime rate in Tennessee, while the city property crime rate in Nashville was 24.9% higher than the property crime rate in Tennessee.  According to statistics from the cityrating.com, the number of burglaries in Nashville, from the January till now, was  6531.

Even though the predicted crime rate is expected to decrease, we have to notice that the crime, and that includes the home break-ins, is on a quite high level, and even if the rate of these crimes goes down, Nashville homeowners will still have to consider the installation of a security alarm system if they want their families to stay safe.

There are a lot of home security alarm system providers available in Nashville, but one of the most trustworthy and experienced ones is us. Hiring a licensed home security company in many states is required by law.The parent company of FlexAlarms, Allied Home Technologies, LLC, has the Electrical Contractor’s license issued by the State of Tennessee, and the Tennessee Alarm Board has issued a “letter of exemption” for their Electrical license, which means that they are certified to install home alarm systems. This also includes Audio/Video, CCTV, Burglar, Fiber as well as High Voltage wiring and termination.  If the customers want to install devices such as lighting and HVAC control, most of the companies have to hire other subcontractors, but not the FlexAlarms, we can do it by ourselves. This company is a full-service electrical systems contractor, fully licensed by the state of Tennessee.

Innovative Approach Gives Users Lower Costs & More Features

NASHVILLE, Tenn., (July 8, 2015) – Two longtime Nashville entrepreneurs, Jim

Anderson and Kevin Hughart, have bonded together to form FlexAlarms, an innovative

alarm security company that allows customers to “unbundle” their equipment and services,

resulting in lower costs. Beyond the lower cost approach, Flex is also focused on providing

high-tech system control from smartphones and helping consumers to cut the cord from

their old technology landline phones.

“The old model in alarm security was to wrap the cost of the equipment into the

monthly payment and drive that payment out as far into the future as possible,” said Jim

Anderson, FlexAlarms CEO. “That has been done for literally decades now, and we feel the

time has come for a new approach to give customers better flexibility and lower costs.” In

addition to lowered monthly fees, the company is also focused on better convenience by

putting system control on smartphones and also controlling doors, lights and thermostats.

FlexAlarms launched June 15th and is already serving customers across Nashville

and Middle Tennessee.

Your Life Could Be Saved By A Nashville Alarm System

Flex Alarms’ wireless alarm systems are made up of three components known as the three Ds that act to keep you and your property safe and secure. These are Detect, Determine and Deter.

Detect

Your alarm has sensors attached to it which detect activity. There are many different types of detectors, such as:

  •         Motion sensors – detect movement in a large room
  •         Door and window contacts – switches that detect the opening or closing of a door or window by a magnet that sounds the alarm when moved.
  •         Panic buttons – can send a discreet call to a security center (such as Flex Alarms’) when pushed.
  •         Smoke detectors – alarms that detect smoke or fire
  •         Keypad – your alarm control panel; a board of buttons that you can control to enable or disable your alarm system. Flex’s Nashville alarm systems are up-to-date with the latest technology and we have an alarm system with iPhone app which means your keypad can be on your smartphone and can be controlled remotely, away from your home.

Determine

The control panel determines whether to sound the alarm or not. If a door or window is opened, but the alarm is disabled at the control panel, the alarm will not be triggered, but if the alarm is enabled, it will trigger its audible siren and your security center will be notified. They will then verify what has happened and whether there is a break-in, or a false alarm.

Deter

The sound of the alarm deters burglars because it alerts them to the fact that the owners of the home are being made aware of their presence and can have them prosecuted. If your smoke alarm sounds you can then take action to stop the spread of the fire and extinguish it.

So now, you should have a better idea of how our alarm systems works!
