Flex Alarms’ wireless alarm systems are made up of three components known as the three Ds that act to keep you and your property safe and secure. These are Detect, Determine and Deter.

Detect

Your alarm has sensors attached to it which detect activity. There are many different types of detectors, such as:

  •         Motion sensors – detect movement in a large room
  •         Door and window contacts – switches that detect the opening or closing of a door or window by a magnet that sounds the alarm when moved.
  •         Panic buttons – can send a discreet call to a security center (such as Flex Alarms’) when pushed.
  •         Smoke detectors – alarms that detect smoke or fire
  •         Keypad – your alarm control panel; a board of buttons that you can control to enable or disable your alarm system. Flex’s Nashville alarm systems are up-to-date with the latest technology and we have an alarm system with iPhone app which means your keypad can be on your smartphone and can be controlled remotely, away from your home.

Determine

The control panel determines whether to sound the alarm or not. If a door or window is opened, but the alarm is disabled at the control panel, the alarm will not be triggered, but if the alarm is enabled, it will trigger its audible siren and your security center will be notified. They will then verify what has happened and whether there is a break-in, or a false alarm.

Deter

The sound of the alarm deters burglars because it alerts them to the fact that the owners of the home are being made aware of their presence and can have them prosecuted. If your smoke alarm sounds you can then take action to stop the spread of the fire and extinguish it.

So now, you should have a better idea of how our alarm systems works!

Home alarm systems can be expensive, so it is a good idea to work out whether or not having a security system for your home is worth the money.

What home security systems do

Home security systems do more than simply deter potential burglars. They can let you monitor your home when you are away. They can let you know when a door has been opened or closed. Also, you can get a discount on your home insurance.

They don’t just help you protect your home from burglaries, they can also include heat sensors and fire alarms in case of a fire, giving you that extra blanket of security and safety.

What home security systems can’t do is completely guarantee that your home will never be burgled under their protection. However, the Electronic Security Association states that even when a home with a security system has been burgled, the loss is on average $2,000 less than a home without a security system.

Priceless Valuables

If you have items in your home that you think of as priceless, such as family heirlooms, paintings, souvenirs with sentimental value, you would need to pay something to keep them secure, such as buying a safe. A home alarm system comprehensively protects your home.

Do People Think Home Alarms are Worth it?

Here are some comments from the web:

“I live fairly close to a police station, but not “next door” by any means. We had a false alarm with our system and the police were at my house within 3 minutes.”

“I feel pretty secure now. A loud alarm should scare off any burglar, I would think.”

“I think an alarm system is a worthy cost if it gives you a piece of mind.”

DIY Home Security System

Some people argue that you don’t need to buy a home security system. You can get a cheap sticker online saying that your house is alarmed. You can simply double-bolt your door. Keep a guard dog. Install cheap window or door alarms. These are all good ideas, but sometimes, for peace of mind, it might be best to go with the professionals.
